What Is a Virtual Doula? (And Why Miami Families Are Booking Them)

"Wait — a doula who isn't there?"

I get this question a lot. And it's a fair one. The traditional picture of a doula is someone holding your hand through contractions. So what does a virtual doula actually do — and why are more Miami families choosing it?

What a virtual doula is

A virtual doula does everything a doula does except be physically in the room. That means: full childbirth education, your birth plan built together, comfort-measure coaching for you and your partner, help thinking through decisions as pregnancy unfolds, and on-call text and phone support when labor starts.

Think of it like planning a really big wedding without a wedding planner versus with one. You can absolutely get married without one — but the planner is the reason you're not crying in a parking lot over chair covers. I'm the planner. We prepare, you get educated, and you walk into the unknown feeling confident.

What it isn't

It's not a YouTube playlist. It's not a chatbot. It's a real doula — me — who knows your name, your provider, your birth plan, and your fears, available to you in real time.

Who it's for

• Families who don't want an attendant at the birth but want everything that comes before it: the knowledge, the plan, the advocacy skills.

Second-time parents who've done this before and want a refresher plus a sounding board — not a full birth team.

Partners who want to be the primary support person — and want to do it well. I train your partner to be genuinely excellent in the role.

Anyone outside Miami who wants my expertise. Geography stops mattering.•••

How it works with me

We start around 28 weeks with four private education classes — just us, on your schedule. We build your birth plan together. I coach your partner on comfort measures and advocacy. And when labor starts, I'm on call by text and phone: helping you decide when to go in, talking your partner through the hard parts, being the calm voice that says "this is normal, here's what to do next."

It's concierge-level, 1:1, and entirely built around your family.

"But is it as good as in-person?"

Honest answer: for preparation, education, and decision support — yes, completely. For hands-on physical comfort during labor, your prepared partner and your provider team carry that part — and my whole job is making sure they're ready to. Families are often surprised how little they miss having me in the room, because the preparation was the point all along.

Curious if it's right for you? Virtual Doula Support ($1,250) is private, 1:1, and available wherever you are. Every family starts with a conversation. Get in touch →
